Senior Centers Offer Relief from Hot Temperatures

County residents ages 60 and older can visit local senior centers today to escape the heat.

Senior citizens in Plum, Oakmont and Verona can visit community senior centers to escape the heat today.

With temperatures expected to reach 84 degrees today, the Allegheny County Department of Human Services is announcing that county senior citizens can visit any of the county-funded senior center during regular hours of operation (up to eight hours during peak heat times) to socialize and enjoy some activities while taking refuge from the heat.

RCAC is located at 501 Second St. in Oakmont. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The center's phone number is 412-828-1062.

Plum Senior Community Center is located at 499 Center-New Texas Road in Plum. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The center's phone number is 412-795-2330.
