Teams Needed to 'Bowl for the Cure'

Any bowlers out there? There are still some spots left for a breast cancer awareness bowling fundraiser at Nesbits Lanes in Plum.

in Plum is hosting a "Bowl for the Cure" fundraiser for breast cancer research, and a few more teams are needed for the tournament.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the recipient of funds raised through Bowl for the Cure, an initiative organized by the United States Bowling Congress through The Bowling Foundation. Since the program's inception in 2000, Bowl for the Cure has raised more than $1.1 million for Komen for the Cure—as of 2010—while raising bowlers' awareness about breast cancer screening, treatment and support.

During the event, which will be held Saturday, May 19, at 1 p.m., bowlers will bowl three games of 9 pin no-tap—when a bowler gets nine pins down on the first ball and it is counted as a strike. Winners will receive awards.
