Traffic Alert: Construction Continues on Oakmont-Verona Bridge

Long-term lane closures are in place on Allegheny River Boulevard.

Motorists on Allegheny River Boulevard should allow themselves some extra time, and expect delays, for at least another month.

On Friday, PennDOT began repair work on the bridge connecting Oakmont and Verona boroughs.

Long-term lane closures are now in place between Seldon Avenue and College Avenue. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction continuously through Friday, Oct. 18.

Crews will be conducting bridge improvements, including concrete deck and approach slab repairs, guide rail improvement and concrete barriers.

The project is part of a $3 million contract for improvements on several roadways in Allegheny County.

Work on Allegheny River Boulevard includes milling and resurfacing, base repairs, drainage upgrades, bridge improvements, line painting and other minor construction.

The Derry Construction Company, Inc. is the main contractor.

PennDOT advises drivers use caution, slow down and allow extra time when traveling through the area.
