Volunteers to Set Up Riverside Park Ice Rink This Weekend

Work on the new Riverside Park winter ice rink will begin this weekend, but it will take a few weeks until it's ready to open.

Volunteers will begins setting up the at in Oakmont this weekend, but don't get those ice skates ready just yet.

Molly Merlino, member of the Oakmont Recreation Board, said the 164-by-88-foot liner of the rink needs to sit for a few weeks before water is put in and it freezes over.

"We are looking at having the rink available to use the week of Christmas break, as long as the weather cooperates and it is cold enough," she said.
