Welcome to the Plum-Oakmont Patch's Weekend Planner!

Got no idea what you'll do this weekend? Patch is coming to the rescue! We've got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

It's a good idea to have cash ready for these events.

1.
Where?/When? Saint Irenaeus Catholic Church; Thursday to Saturday 4 to 10 p.m.
Why Go? The festival, which will be held at the Maryland Avenue church, opens Thursday, Aug. 9, and runs through Saturday, Aug. 11. Dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., and a flea market and games will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. each night. There will be a balloon artist, face painter and DJ at the festival each evening. There also will be several booths, games, auctions and food.

Where?/When? ; Friday, Aug. 10, from 5 to 10 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 11, from 4 to 10 p.m.
Why Go? There will be entertainment, food, a moonwalk, a slide, adult and children games, bingo, a bake sale, crafts and several raffles. Entertainment includes a performance from the East End Kids on Saturday at 7 p.m. and music from the band "Branded" on Saturday. DJ Glenn Raymer will be playing music on Friday.

Where?/When? East Railroad Avenue in Verona on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 4 to 9 p.m.
Why Go? Verona Chamber of Commerce will host its 17th Annual Car Cruise on Saturday, Aug. 11, along East Railroad Avenue from 4 to 9 p.m. There is no entrance fee, but the first 100 cars to register will receive a free dash plaque. There will also be a DJ and food available. This has become a “true” cruise because at 8:30 p.m., all the featured cars will line up and cruise down Allegheny River Boulevard and Allegheny Avenue to the Hulton Bridge in Oakmont and back.

4. Sixth-Annual Car Cruise
Where?/When? on Saturday, Aug. 11, from noon to 4 p.m.
Why Go? The sixth-annual Unity Classic Car, Truck and Bike Cruise will be held on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. The rain date is on Saturday, Aug. 18. registration is at 11 a.m. There will be music, family fun and food. Visitors are asked to bring canned or boxed food, or a donation for the food bank community outreach.

5. Monroeville Safety Day
Where?/When? Forbes Regional Inter-Community Cancer Center Parking Lot  in Monroeville on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Why Go? Sponsored by Highmark, Inc., the event will take place on the Forbes Regional Hospital campus and feature a variety of fun activities for families and a unique displaying of various safety vehicles and emergency services resources that ensure the health and safety of communities.
