Young Entrepreneurs Have a Corner on a Cool Summertime Tradition

Two local boys plan to offer refreshments to motorists and pedestrians throughout the summer.

Anyone walking or driving through the streets of Oakmont on Saturday had a chance to cool off with some lemonade.

Ben Lazor, 13, and Czar Tarr, 11, of Oakmont set up a lemonade stand at the corner of Allegheny River Boulevard and Washington Avenue. Several pedestrians and motorists were stopping to buy their 50-cent cups of lemonade on the warm, sunny day.

This was the second time Ben, an eighth-grader at Riverview Junior-Senior High School, and Czar, a fifth-grader at Tenth Street Elementary, worked their stand. They said they hope to continue working during the weekends before summer vacation, and throughout the summer.

Czar said he operated a similar stand up the road last summer, and Ben immediately hopped on board when he was approached to help this year. They said they hope the more prominent location of their stand this year will help business come in.

Though they don’t know what they’re going to do with the money they earn, they said it’s been fun so far.
