Andrew Gross got his start as a co-author with James Patterson on some of the Women's Detective Club books as well as other standalones. His work with Patterson must have been a good school is suspense writing because he's gone on to a best-selling career with his own books. Most recent is 15 Seconds. So what can happen in 15 seconds? Leading surgeon Henry Steadman can get pulled over by a cop for a minor traffic violation, the cop can get shot by someone speeding by in a blue sedan, and Henry can get blamed, as he's suddenly targeted by a huge manhunt.

Alafair Burke may have gotten a boost early in her career from her association with her dad, writer James Lee Burke, but she's earned her current position with a series of successful and entertaining books featuring prosecutors and cops. More recently she's been entertaining readers with standalone novels of suspense and you're sure to be entertained by the latest, Never Tell.
