Get Out and Enjoy These Fall Festivals

Take a day trip and enjoy any one (or more) of these great fall festivals in driving distance of Plum and Oakmont.

With Labor Day right around the corner, many of us will take
to the roads soaking up the last days of summer and enjoying the beauty of nature as fall is quickly approaching. If you plan on heading out to enjoy all that our area has to offer, be sure to plan your trip around any one (or more) of these upcoming fall festivals!

Sept. 2 to 5:  18th Annual Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts Colonial Festival

This Labor Day weekend, the 18th Annual Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts Colonial Festival takes over the Westmoreland Fairgrounds offering more than 220 indoor and outdoor exhibits.  Voted the “19th Best Craft Show in America” visitors will enjoy many of the nation’s finest artists and craftsmen. The festival will take place rain or shine and there is plenty of free on-site parking.

Admission is $6 for adults, $5.50 for senior citizens (65 and older), $1

Sept. 9 to 11: 42nd Annual Mountain Craft Days

Approximately one hour from Plum/Oakmont, the Somerset Historical Center in Somerset, Pa., is host to a popular folk festival, the 42nd
Annual Mountain Craft Days. More than 125 artisans, musicians and entertainers will be on hand to showcase the frontier heritage of southwestern Pennsylvania. 

The event will take place rain or shine, and there will be directional
signs to free parking. Mountain Craft Days hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all three days. General admission is $7 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 17, and children younger than 5 enter for free. For more information and directions, call 814-445-6077 or visit www.somersethistoricalcenter.org.

Sept. 17 to 18 and 24-25: 28th Annual Penn’s Colony Festival

Blending the spirit of colonial America with a marketplace of handcrafted folk art and crafts, the 28th Annual Penn’s Colony
Festival in Saxonburg, Pa., has been entertaining the masses with music, dance, history, games, food and more. The Penn
Colony Village will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. 

Admission is $7 for adults (ages 16 to 59), $6 for seniors (ages 60 and older), $5 for children (ages 8 to 15) and children 7 and younger enter for free. For more information and directions call 724-352-9922 or visit www.pennscolony.com.

Oct. 1 and 2: Delmont Apple and Arts Festival

Featuring more than 150 arts and crafts vendors and more than 30 food vendors, the Delmont Apple and Arts Festival is a local favorite
of many who have visited the Shields Farm in Delmont for nearly three
decades. The festival not only provides visitors with great entertainment and shopping opportunities, but also apples

Oct. 1, 2 and 8, 9: 47th Annual Bedford Fall Foliage Festival

Dubbed one of the biggest and most entertaining of all Pennsylvania festivals, the 47th Annual Bedford Fall Foliage Festival offers all of the tastes, smells, and colors of Fall two separate weekends in October. Visitors will enjoy more than 400 different vendors in addition to pumpkin patches, antiques, and live entertainment all four days.

Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking is only $5 and a free shuttle will be available from the various parking

Saturdays and Sundays in October: Autumnfest

There is nothing like autumn in the mountains and Seven Springs Mountain Resort celebrates Autumfest four weekends in a row during the month of October. From entertainment and novelty acts, to arts and crafts and a pumpkin patch, visitors to Autumnfest will
find something for everyone while taking in the beautiful ski slopes in Fall. 

Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. There is a fee for parking. For more information or directions, visit www.7springs.com.

Oct. 7 to 9: PumpkinFest

In the southwest corner of Somerset County, sits Confluence, Pa., the home of the popular arts and crafts fall festival—PumpkinFest. In addition to crafts and festival food, PumpkinFest also features a 5K Run, a PumpkinFest Queen Pageant, an antique and classic carshow, a parade and the largest pumpkin contest. Friday’s hours are 2 to 10 p.m., Saturday’s hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday’s hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information or directions, visit www.confluencepumpkinfest.org.
