Jump with Jill Film Festival Comes to The Oaks Theater

The event will be held Saturday, June 2. It promotes healthy eating.

in Oakmont will be rolling out the red carpet for healthy eating with the Jump with Jill Film Festival.

On Saturday, June 2, the theater will host the free family event. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m., when guests can walk the red carpet, rub elbows with the film stars and enjoy free healthy concession stand snacks. There is no cost to attend the show.

The hour-long show will begin promptly at 2 p.m. The movie shorts will have kids dancing in the aisles and asking parents for their new favorite vegetable. Kids will have the opportunity to “Ask the Director” about their favorite scenes and get an autograph from Jump with Jill creator and producer, Jill Jayne of Oakmont.

Jump with Jill is a school assembly that travels the country transforming nutrition education into a rock ‘n roll nutrition concert. With original music, movement-based learning, and a compelling character, Jump with Jill uses the same tools normally used to sell junk food and keep kids sedentary into a powerful tool for teaching healthy habits.

The interactive experience not only makes eating breakfast and drinking water cool, but helps increase retention of these important health messages. Jump with Jill has been performed for over 170,000 kids across the United States and Europe and has been featured on Nickelodeon, Sprout PBS, NPR and Pittsburgh’s KDKA.

Over the past year, Jump with Jill underwent development to grow from the wildly popular live show into the more permanent medium of video. The kids’ cooking video series called Rock Your Taste Buds will make its world premiere at the Oaks Theater on Saturday.

The videos star an all-Pittsburgh cast, featuring students from , Butler, Moon, Deer Lakes, Highlands, and Springdale school districts. The crew includes Pittsburgh-based A Part of the Plan Productions and New York City-based Terry Golob. Select cast and crew will be available for question-and-answer session.

Jayne's knack for rock 'n roll nutrition is the result of her credentials in nutrition mixed with her musical experience as lead singer-songwriter of her rock band Sunset West. She is a registered dietitian with a master's degree in nutrition education from Columbia University and a bachelor's in nutrition and theater from Penn State University.

Jayne's original music and video productions have led her to the White House to meet Michelle Obama and a 2011 Grammy nomination consideration for Best Children's Album.

Jump with Jill merchandise will be available for purchase at the event, including audio CDs of the music featured at the Film Festival. CDs are $20 and can be autographed by Jill Jayne; cash, check and credit card will be accepted.

After the Film Festival, join the cast and crew for a Jump with Jill-themed meal at 314 Pasta & Prime. The menu will include edamame, broccoli and blueberries, as seen in Rock Your Taste Buds. RSVP is required by Friday, May 25. To register, call 1-800-531-0760 or email info@jumpwithjill.com. For the full itinerary, visit www.jumpwithjill.com/film-festival.
