Plum, Oakmont Under Tornado Watch

A flood watch has also been issued for the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for most of western Pennsylvania, including Plum, Oakmont and Verona, until midnight Wednesday.

A flash flood watch is also in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday afternoon.

Two rounds of heavy thunderstorms are expected by Thursday afternoon.

Here's the latest forecast:

  • Wednesday night: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Low around 69. North wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
  • Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms before 3 p.m., then showers likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 74. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
