Plum-Oakmont Businesses, Organizations Support Breast Cancer Awareness

These upcoming events and promotions support the cause.

There are several ways to support breast cancer awareness locally over the next few days! Here are some upcoming events:

Wine Tasting

If you like wine, the Mighty Oak Barrel is hosting an event for you. The Oakmont restaurant will host a wine tasting on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 24 and 25, featuring women winemakers. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation. For more information or to register, call 412-826-1069.

"Beards and Cigars for Breasts"

Steel City Beard & Mustache Club—founded by Plum resident and Oakmont businessman Seth DeSabato—and the Cigar House in Penn Hills are working together to help raise breast cancer awareness.

The event, which will include a DJ, beer, snacks, raffles and prizes, will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 6 p.m. The cigar house is at 139 Sandycreek Road.

People are welcome to attend in Halloween costumes. The money raised will be going to the Young Women's Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

Steel City BMC will have club merchandise for sale and The Cigar House will donate $1 per premium cigar purchased Saturday.

Oakmont Bakery Gobs

The Oakmont Bakery is donating proceeds from pink gobs sales to the Young Women’s Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. A $1 donation will be made for each gob sold.

Breast Cancer Awareness Breakfast

The Oakmont Chamber of Commerce is hosting a breast cancer awareness breakfast at Panera Bread.

The Oakmont location is selling Pink Ribbon Bagels to support the Young Women’s Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation and Magee Womens Research Institute and Foundation Patient Navigator Program.

The chamber's breakfast will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The $10 includes a bagel breakfast and networking. To RSVP, email info@oakmont-pa.com or call 412-828-3238.
