Brr-Kee’s Ice Cream to Remain Open Year-Round

Anyone can enjoy the famous flavors of Brr-Kee's Ice Cream in Oakmont throughout the winter.

For Tim and Terry Lutz, owners of along
Allegheny Avenue in Oakmont, homemade, making handmade ice cream is a 12-month business—and now their customers will be able to enjoy their treats all year long, too.

“This is my job now and we have customers in the winter so
we figured why not be open all year long,” said Terry, who along with her husband, has owned Brr-Kee’s since December 2010.

Brr-Kee’s has been an Oakmont favorite for nearly 20 years,
and Lutz said that they plan on continuing to serve their many customers the old favorites as well as offer them some new treats.

“We have been making ice cream cakes for a little while now
where they can be made with any flavor of ice cream and can be decorated for any event," she said. “We also plan on adding some hot drinks to the menu, like hot chocolate and cappuccinos this winter.”

With more than 25 different flavors offered on a daily basis, Terry
said that the “old fashioned favorites” like butter pecan and cherry vanilla will remain on the homemade ice cream menu and they will also embark on some fall and winter favorites.

“We brought out pumpkin ice cream a couple weeks ago and it
has been a big hit," she said. "We plan on having some other fall favorites like maple walnut and possibly even peppermint for the winter.”

While the Brr-Kee’s red neon “OPEN” sign will remain on through
the long, cold winter months, Terry said that they might shorten their hours by an hour or so. The ice cream shop will open every day at 11 a.m. to serve dedicated and new customers.

“Ice cream doesn’t have to be just for summer anymore and we
know because ours is the best,” Terry added.
