First Plum Business Showcase is a Success

The Plum Chamber of Commerce hosted a trade show earlier this week.

The Plum community had the opportunity to interact with local business owners during the first-annual Plum Chamber of Commerce Business Showcase earlier this week.

The trade show was held in the Plum High School cafeteria on Tuesday, and business owners and members of the community mingled.

The chamber secured about 36 local vendors at the showcase. Board members were working on putting the event together for several months.

"It's a great way to get member to meet each other," said chamber President Chris Zozoula. "And we got some surrounding communities involved, too."

When business owners heard about the opportunity, they were happy to be involved, said chamber member John Divinchi, who helped coordinate the showcase.

"People were very interested in participating," he said.

Chamber board member George Anderson said he was happy with the end result.

"Chamber members really stepped up," he said. "You can always improve, but it's been great. I was happy with this year's venue because the high school is in the community. We had so many people come in and they were talking about the last time they were in the school.

"We wanted to keep it a community event, and (Superintendent Dr. Timothy Glasspool) and his staff really bent over backwards to let us use this space."

Divinchi said the event is definitely something the chamber should coordinate again next year.

Anderson agreed.

"We want to feature the people behind all of our local businesses," he said.
