Mystery Lovers Bookshop, Oakmont Library Team Up for Events

The Oakmont bookshop will co-sponsor three best-selling author talks and signings with the Oakmont Carnegie Library.

Best-selling authors are coming to town.

and will be hosting talks and signing events with three best-selling authors beginning this Sunday, March 11.

All events will be held in the comfort of the Oakmont Library’s downstairs auditorium. Tickets cost $5 each—they can be used as $5-off coupons toward the purchase of the authors’ books.

Here is a listing of the events:

Joanne Fluke—Fluke will be discussing her latest Hannah Swensen mystery, Cinnamon Roll Murder, on Sunday, March 11, at 1 p.m. Bakery shop owner Hannah was introduced in The Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. Fourteen books followed, with Apple Turnover murder as the 15th. Cost of the talk is $5; free with purchase of book.

Rita Mae Brown—Brown will be a part of the 20th Anniversary Blowout on Wednesday, April 4, at 7 p.m. She will hold a talk and book signing at the library. Brown and her feline partner, Sneaky Pie Brown, return with a new mystery starring Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen, the sleuthing cats Mrs. Murphy and Pewter, and corgi Tee Tucker. But are they any match for a killer who's made an entire town suspect in the latest mystery, The Big Cat Nap. This latest book is the 20th in the series.

Brown's appearance will be a benefit in conjunction with Animal Friends, the no-kill animal shelter. Ticket proceeds will be donated to Animal Friends and there also will be a raffle of animal-themed mysteries with proceeds donated to them. Animal Friends will also be bringing an assortment of cats, dogs and rabbits available for adoption.

Lisa Scottoline—Scottoline will be at the library for a talk and signing on Sunday, April 22, at 1 p.m. Scottoline is a mystery writer with legs—meaning she has many worldwide fans. She will be talking about Come Home, a thriller about a mother who sacrifices her future for a child from her past.

The award-winning Scottoline has over 25 million copies of her books in print and is published in more 25 countries.
