Oakmont-Based A. Folino Construction Plans to Rebuild Shop Razed by 2011 Fire

The construction company's shop along Dark Hollow Road was destroyed during a fire in May 2011. Plans to rebuild in the same location are in place.

Despite a the company's shop on Dark Hollow Road in May, crews continued to work.

According to the Valley News Dispatch, Tony Folino, company president, said a new maintenance facility and offices will be built in the same location in the near future. In the meantime, the company is leasing property in Verona.

A. Folino Construction, which was founded in 1972, has offices at 221 Allegheny Ave. in Oakmont. Heavy equipment was housed at the shop facility on Dark Hollow Road.

At the time of the fire, no one was injured, given that most of the approximately 100 employees of Folino Construction were out on the road.

Fire investigators had concerns about the types of oils that might have been stored in the building. According to the Valley News, the county fire marshal's office has determined the fire was accidental, caused by "a worker who was cutting or grinding metal, causing sparks to ignite flammable liquid vapors nearby."
