Oakmont Chamber Hosts Recycle Rama Event

Have things you need to or want to recycle? No need to worry!

Instead of throwing things away this weekend, why not recycle them or give them away for a good cause?

is hosting a Recycle Rama event in conjunction with many area businesses on Saturday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parking lot.

Things collected include:

  • Electronics, which will be collected by Guardian Storage Solutions
  • All cellphones, which will be recycled for Cell Phones for Soldiers
  • Freon-free appliances
  • Plastic grocery bags
  • Towels and blankets, to be donated to local animal shelters
  • Eye glasses, collected by the Oakmont Lions Club
  • Gently-used books
  • Paper, phone books, magazines and damaged books
  • Women's business attire and shoes to benefit Dress for Success
  • Prom dresses and shoes, collected by Angela's Angels
  • Used motor oil
  • Car and truck batteries
  • Alkaline batteries
  • Old blue jeans to be used for insulation by Cotton from Blue to Green
  • Greeting cards collected by St. Jude's Hospital

One list I saw indicated that "Mobile Shredding Site" would be there and you could get papers shredded for $3.00 per box. Will they still be there? Thanks. Kathi
