Oakmont Skin Care & Electrolysis to Get its Own Makeover

The Allegheny River Boulevard business will move three doors down at the end of January.

Cathie Adams is excited to expand her business.

For months, the 12-year owner of has been working on plans to move her business three doors down.

The Oakmont business will move from its current location on Allegheny River Boulevard to the former Lane's Hardware storefront at the end of January.

Adams said the change is a welcome one because the new location offers more space for day-to-day business operations, as well as the opportunity for growth.

"This whole thing started when the girls would come to me with nightmares about the storage space in the back," she said with a laugh. "We moved here six years ago, and we've outgrown this space. I'm excited to expand the business and offer more services."

Currently, Oakmont Skin Care & Electrolysis offers spa services, electrolysis, waxing, facials, manicures, pedicures, makeovers and other treatments. There also is a retail section where skin care products, makeup, jewelry and Vera Bradley merchandise is sold.

In the new space, Adams said all those services will continue to be offered, but massages, yoga/pilates and other wellness treatments will be added to the mix.

The number of treatment rooms will remain at four, Adams said, to "keep the small intimate feel" of the business.

The larger area allows for a wider hallway and a handicap-accessible bathroom.

The spa and retail areas will be separated by glass doors, and people waiting for services won't have to sit in the retail area.

"Our makeup is currently hidden in the corner near the receptionist desk," Adams said. "People hardly notice it because they don't feel like they can go back there. It'll be nice for people to have a more comfortable space to look around and browse.

"We really thought about what we didn't like about the other place and incorporated that into the new place. A lot of work is going into this, and people tell me they're excited. They can't wait to see the new place."
