Penn Hills/Plum Car Wash Holds Mock Election

Many Americans will be voting for either President Barak Obama of former governor Mitt Romney for U.S. president today, Election Day.

Splash Touchless, an automatic car wash located on the border of Plum and Penn Hills, got a head start and held it's presidential car wash poll in October to see how people would be voting.

Motorist were able to choose their candidate by either choosing the bay on the left for Obama or the bay on the right for Romney. Each day the results would be published on the LED sign on Saltsburg Road.

The race was tight with Obama initially taking the lead then losing it to Romney by more than 30 votes, according to owner Scott Glover. On the final day, the final results were posted with Obama edging out Romney by just one vote. Final results—Obama 719, Romney 718.

Glover said he was amazed at how the results mirrored many of the national polls, especially after the first debate when Romney pulled ahead.

The local business owner said he hopes Americans cast their officials votes on Election Day.

"While the poll offered some good clean fun, the true winners are all Americans who have the opportunity to vote for a candidate that has a vision they have in common," Glover said.
