Two Bottom Dollar Food Grocery Stores to Open in Penn Hills This Week

The discount grocery store chain will open locations along Frankstown and Saltsburg roads in Penn Hills on Jan. 26. The first 200 customers at each store will receive a free bag of groceries.

This Thursday, Bottom Dollar Food grocery stores in Penn Hills are set to open.

The stores—located at 12012 Frankstown Road and 7350 Saltsburg Road—will hold a grand opening for the public at 8 a.m.

Other locations for the stores in the Pittsburgh area include Castle Shannon, Baldwin, Scott Township, McKeesport, Butler, Ambridge and Aliquippa.

According to the company's Facebook page, the first 200 customers at each location will receive a free bag of groceries.

The North Carolina-based grocery store chain has already filled some positions, but is still looking to hire workers.

“We're always looking for talented people who are fun, energetic and have a passion for helping customers as well as fellow associates,” company spokeswoman Tenisha Waldo told Chartiers Valley Patch. “Anyone interested in applying for employment opportunities at Bottom Dollar Food may visit (the company’s website).”

Bottom Dollar opened its first store in High Point, N.C. in 2005 and has quickly expanded to 47 locations. Company officials said they see this as a good opportunity to introduce its brand into the Pittsburgh market. The new stores–along with three more in Youngstown, Ohio–are expected to bring 600 jobs to the region.
