Yarns by Design to Move to Oakmont Business District

The shop currently is located on Cedar Way and will move to an Allegheny River Boulevard storefront.

Yarns by Design, an upscale fiber arts boutique located in Oakmont will be moving to a more visible location later this year.

The shop currently is located on Cedar Way in Oakmont. Come May, it will relocate to a storefront at 622 Allegheny River Boulevard—in between Pennsylvania and Maryland avenues.

"The space is larger, thus, we will be introducing new lines to our quite expansive inventory we currently provide to our customers," said store manager Tamara Hayes.

The shop offers supplies, such as yarns, patterns. It also hosts workshops and classes taught by designers/artisans from all over the world.

"We will continue offering a variety of classes for those interested to learn or expand on knitting, crochet and spinning," Hayes said. "With all of the excitement, we are honored to introduce two additional teachers who will contribute to our list of interesting classes offered."

Hayes said workshops, like the free Fiber Friends weekly group sessions, have grown throughout the years, and the larger new space will help accommodate the larger groups.

New items also will be offered.

"With the new location on the main boulevard in Oakmont, we know every person who walks by is not going to be interested in purchasing fibers for their next project," Hayes said. "We will expand on our accessories.

"My mom and I are planning to have a number of finished hand knitted items like hats, scarves, cowls, infinity scarves and mittens—to name a few—available for purchase."
