Edgewater at Oakmont Makes Progress

The housing development is coming together, already has several residents and will appear on HGTV later this month.

Development at the housing plan is progressing quickly.

The housing development, located in the former Edgewater Steel mill along College Avenue, —park homes, cottage homes, paired, manor flats, townhouse, courtyard homes and condominiums—ranging in price from $200,000 to $600,000.

Homes have been selling quickly.

There only are three single family home sites with river views remaining in the entire community, according to Edgewater's March newsletter. Also, there only are two Courtyard Homes left in the project's first phase.

The first Manor Flat 4 is "progressing nicely," according to the newsletter, and tours will be available soon.

According to an article in the Valley News Dispatch, the development should be complete two years ahead of schedule. About a dozen homes have sold so far this year and 43 were closed on in 2011. Eleven detached homes, 18 town homes and two "paired" homes are completed or are in the final stages of construction, according to the article.

If you're not interested in purchasing a home, you can still see the development on TV. HGTV and Stone & Co. Entertainment partnered with Pittsburgh’s Heartland Homes to film part of the new Showhouse Showdown series at Edgewater. The show is on March 31.
