'From Page to Screen' Series to Debut at Oakmont Carnegie Library

Watch a movie based on a book and discuss it. February's discussion is based on "Water for Elephants."

The is starting its new series, “From Page to Screen,” in February.

The library will show movies inspired by favorite books and lead a discussion to compare and contrast book vs. film.

The first discussion will be based on the best-selling book by Sara Gruen, "Water for Elephants." On Monday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. the library will show the film, starring Robert Pattinson as a young veterinary student who joins a traveling circus in the 1930s and bonds with one of its star performers—played by Reese Witherspoon—over a very special elephant. The film is rated PG-13 for moments of intense violence and sexual content.

Because of time constraints, the film screening and discussion will be held on separate evenings. The discussion of both the film and the book, accompanied by a DVD feature with an interview with author Sara Gruen, will be held on Monday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m.

To register for the movie on Feb. 6 or the Feb. 20 discussion, see www.oakmontlibrary.org or call the library at 412-828-9532.
