Giant Eagle Recalls Cucumbers Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination

Current stock of cucumbers is safe.

Anyone eating cucumbers this Memorial Day weekend should check when they bought them.

Giant Eagle announced that fresh cucumber supplier C.W. Hendrix Farms Inc. of Boca Raton, Fla., has voluntarily recalled fresh cucumbers distributed from its facility between May 6 and May 13 due to possible salmonella contamination.

Giant Eagle is one of a number of retailers impacted by this recall.

According to a press release from Giant Eagle, there have been no reports of customer illness.

A produce employee at the Verona Giant Eagle said cucumbers currently in stock are safe for customers to consume. He said employees at the Verona location already have contacted customers who purchased cucumbers to notify them of the recall and offer to exchange the product.

Customers who have previously purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return it to their local Giant Eagle where they will receive a refund. For more information, contact C.W. Hendrix Farms Inc. at 561-482-5164.
