Monroeville Mall Macy's Gets a Makeover

Shoppers will celebrate the new new look Saturday, Sept. 17.

Anyone who has shopped at the Monroeville Mall Macy's recently will notice that the store has made a lot of changes to its look.

On Saturday, the remodeling of the store will be celebrated with shopping, presentations, gifts and more.

The remodel is a multi-million dollar effort that includes an expanded shoe department, fine jewelry, the addition of Big and Tall in the men's department, and additional brands in the handbag, cosmetics, juniors, women and men's departments.

During the eight-month process, 12 walls were knocked down to expand departments.

Mark Ionadi, the new Monroeville Mall Macy's store manager, said all the changes stemmed from the needs and wants of customers via My Macy's feedback.

Here's a look at some of the changes:

On the first floor, the men's apparel department was expanded by 5,000 square feet, making it the second-largest Macy's Men's Department in the Pittsburgh area (the first is in downtown Pittsburgh).

A Big and Tall assortment will be introduced in October. Ionadi said customers have been asking for that addition for years. It's only available in three of the 11 Macy's stores in the region.

Coats and swimwear have moved from the second floor to the first floor, and the juniors department will have additional brands.

On the second floor, fine jewelry and watch display cases have more than doubled from 14 to 31. New brands include Burberry, Armani and Rachel by Rachel Roy.

The shoe department has expanded by nearly 2,000 square feet. All new fixtures that hold double the amount of shoes were added. Sperry Top-Sides is a new featured brand.

New brands and lines also have been added in the handbags and cosmetics departments.

Macy's Woman has moved from the first floor to the third floor. The department expanded by 10,000 square feet in its new location. Fitting rooms were added and the department is adjacent to a woman's bathroom.
