Mountain Bike Festival Celebrates County Parks

Events to be held at Boyce Park and other county parks.

The Allegheny Parks Department and the Pittsburgh Trails Advocacy Group (PTAG) announced the 6th Annual Mountain Bike Festival will be held Friday through at Boyce, North, and Hartwood Acres parks.

The three-day celebration is free and open to advanced beginner bikers and above. Riders who wish to participate in the event should bring a helmet and water, and be prepared to ride for at least one to three hours.

The weekend schedule is as follows:

Friday, July 15—The event will be held at Hartwood Acres in Hampton and Indiana townships. It will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Middle Road parking lot between the school and amphitheater.
   
Saturday, July 16—The event will be held at North Park's McCandless Grove from noon to 3 p.m. The park spreads through Hampton, McCandless and Pine townships.There will be a party on Sunday.
   
Sunday, July 17—The event will be held at Boyce Park in Plum Borough and the Municipality of Monroeville. The meeting place will be at the Pack 2 Shelter, and the event will run from noon to 8 p.m. There will be a party following the event. Participants are asked to bring a dish to share. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

PTAG is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and encouraging the use of biking trails in western Pennsylvania, has worked over the past year to develop a new downhill trail and skill park in North Park. Members have spent close to 2000 hours maintaining, re-routing and building trails for riders to enjoy throughout the year.
