Oakmont Police to Collect Unwanted Prescription Drugs

The collection will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oakmont Rite Aid on Saturday.

Oakmont Police Department is participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 28.

Police will be at the Oakmont Rite Aid from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for residents who want to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs. This is the third time the Oakmont Police Department has participated.

People are asked not to bring containers with personal information on them, just the unwanted medicine.

Saturday's collection will be the fourth in the nation. According to the DEA's website, about 995,185 pounds (498.5 tons) of medication have been removed from circulation in the past 13 months.
