Overhead Sign Installations Continue Wednesday and Thursday Nights on Route 28
Here's a traffic update.
Work to install two overhead sign structures on southbound (inbound) Route 28 in Millvale, will occur on Thursday and Friday nights, March 15 and 16, weather permitting.
Southbound closures and detours will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. both nights according the following:
Thursday night, March 15

- Southbound Route 28 will be closed at the location of the former Millvale Industrial Park (between 31st Street and 40th Street bridges). Southbound traffic will be detoured across the 40th Street Bridge to Butler Street to Penn Avenue to the 16th Street Bridge. Traffic on the 40th Street Bridge will not be able to access southbound Route 28; access to northbound Route 28 and Millvale will remain open.
Friday night, March 16
- Southbound Route 28 will be closed at the Millvale Interchange (Exit 3). Southbound traffic will be required to exit at the Millvale off-ramp traveling under Route 28 to the on-ramp to the 40th Street Bridge. Traffic will then renter southbound Route 28. Traffic on the 40th Street Bridge will be able to access southbound Route 28, northbound Route 28 and Millvale.
Brief stoppages may also occur on northbound Route 28. Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic patterns and allow extra time when traveling through the area.
