Overnight Closures on the Route 8, Highland Park Bridge Ramp Begin Next Week

Here's a traffic update.

The ramp from southbound Route 8 (Butler Street) to the northbound  Highland Park Bridge (toward Route 28) in the City of Pittsburgh will be closed Monday through Sunday nights, Jan. 9 to 15, weather permitting.

Crews will be conducting barrier repairs. Closures will occur from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. Signs will be posted to guide motorists during the overnight closures. No closures are planned on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13 and 14.

  • Cross the 62nd Street Bridge and exit to Sharpsburg/Bridge Street
  • Continue on Bridge Street and make right onto Butler Street
  • Make right onto southbound Route 8
  • Take ramp to northbound Route 28
  • Follow Route 28 to the Highland Park Bridge
  • End detour

The work is included in a $1.3 million contract with Lone Pine Construction Inc. of Bentleyville, Pa., for improvements on several bridges in PennDOT District 11.

Motorists are advised to use caution, allow extra time and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. Log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major roadways before traveling.
