Patch Pets: Darla Needs a Home

Here is our pet of the week.

This lovely little lady is Darla. Darla is an 11-month-old boxer mix that was surrendered to us because of landlord issues.

Darla is a very friendly, affectionate doggie with quite a personality. She hadn't had much training in her previous home, but she learns fast because she such is a people pleaser. Darla would benefit from obedience training and lots of appropriate chew toys.

She is very smart and will excel in obedience classes. Darla is waiting for a family that is willing to spend time teaching her the ropes and give her the home she deserves. Could that be your family?

For more information about her, please contact her volunteer friend Laura at lauralatini54@yahoo.com or come to the Animal Rescue League at 6620 Hamilton Ave., in East Liberty, 412-661-6452.

The shelter is open for adoptions Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday through Monday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. where you will find dozens of cats, kittens, rabbits and ferrets.

The shelter is currently over flowing with adorable kittens. Please consider adopting a pair for an $80 donation that includes spay/neuter surgery, a microchip and vaccines.

Boxers are wonderful pets! I had one growing up and she was sweet to me and all the kids in the neighborhood---they can also look mean, so they're good for protection. I wish I could take Darla. Good luck, puppy!

I had a boxer growing up, too, Erin! She was such a good dog!
