Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium Back Open After Saturday Lockdown

The zoo had an emergency situation this morning after the African Painted Dogs got into a fenced off portion of their exhibit.

A lockdown the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium this morning has been lifted.

According to the zoo's Facebook page, the "African Painted Dogs got into a fenced off portion of their exhibit and we reacted with the safety of our visitors and staff as our top priority."

Officials thanked visitors and staff for their patience.

Everything has been safely resolved, the animals are back in their habitat and operations are back to normal. The zoo is located off of Butler Street in the City of Pittsburgh, a little more than 5 miles from the Oakmont and Verona area.
