Plum Community Festival Canceled Thursday Due to Storm Damage, Severe Weather

The festival is expected to take place as planned on Friday and Saturday.

The Plum Community Festival should have kicked off at Thursday night at 6. Instead, crews were rapidly cleaning up after a severe storm swept through the area and damaged tents—another storm was on the way.

Plum public works employees were on hand all day setting up for the three-day event, and just like that, it went down.

Borough Manager Michael Thomas said crews were waiting in a trailer as the evening's first string of storms passed through the area. Suddenly, a gust of wind took out several of the tents that had been set up for the evening—most seemed to be in the game area.

"It was unbelievable," Thomas said.

He said crews would be reporting to the park early Friday to make sure everything is set up for Friday and Saturday.
