Plum, Oakmont and Verona Churches Hold Easter Services

Churches in the Forest Hills-Regent Square area are hosting Easter services. Here's a roundup:

PLUM

Our Lady of Joy Parish—The service of Stations of the Cross will be held on Good Friday at 7 p.m. There will be an Easter Vigil at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Easter Sunday services will be at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon.

Pittsburgh East Community Church—A Good Friday communion service will be held at 7 p.m. Identical Easter services will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Presbyterian Church of Plum Creek—A Good Friday Mass will be held at 7 p.m. and Easter Sunday service will be at 10 a.m.

Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church—There will be 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. services on Good Friday. On Saturday, there will be a prayer service at 9 a.m., a Blessing of Easter Food at noon and an Easter Vigil at 8 p.m. Easter Sunday Masses will be held at 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Saint Januarius Church—Good Friday services will be held at noon, 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. On Saturday, there will be a Blessing of the Easter Baskets at noon and an Easter Vigil at 8 p.m. Easter Sunday Mass will be held at 10 a.m.

Unity Community Church—A Good Friday service will be at 7 p.m. On Easter Sunday, there will be services at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

OAKMONT

On Easter, there will be a community sunrise worship service at the Oakmont Country Club at 7 a.m. on the East porch.

Saint Irenaeus Catholic Church—There will be a Passion Service at 1:30 p.m. on Good Friday. On Saturday, the church will hold its Blessing of the Baskets at noon and an Easter Vigil at 8:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday, there will be Mass at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Oakmont Presbyterian Church—A Good Friday service will be at 8 p.m. Easter Sunday services at the church will be held at 8:15 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Oakmont United Methodist Church—The church will host an Easter Egg Hunt for children at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. On Easter Sunday, there will be an informal worship at 9 a.m. in the church social hall, breakfast at 10 a.m. and traditional worship at 11 a.m.

Saint Thomas Episcopal Church— The Good Friday service will be at 7:30 p.m.  The church also will hold a noon service at UPMC St. Margaret chapel. On Saturday, there will be an Easter Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Easter Sunday services will be at 8 and 10:30 a.m.

Redeemer Lutheran Church—There will be a Good Friday Tenebrae service at 7:30 p.m. Easter Sunday Mass will be at 10:45 a.m.

Riverside Community Church—Easter Sunday services will be held at both the Oakmont and Pittsburgh Mills locations as regularly scheduled at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

VERONA

St. Joseph Catholic Church, 825 Second Ave.—An Easter service will be held Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Sunday services are at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 701 Allegheny River Boulevard—The church will hold a community Good Friday Tennebrae Service at 7 p.m.

Verona United Methodist Church, 798 Herron Ave.—The church will host a Community Good Friday Service at noon for parishioners from the area, including those from Riverside Community Church in Oakmont.

Verona Prebyterian Church, 566 South Ave.—Easter worship will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
