Police Report: March 11 to 24

A round up of police charges and crimes in Plum and Oakmont.

Plum Police charged a Penn Hills man after police said he stole from a parked car and later kicked an officer in the chest after being arrested.

Joshua Ambrose, 26, of 2622 Jordan Ave. in Penn Hills, was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, presenting false identification, resisting arrest, theft from a vehicle and public drunkenness.

Police followed the nose of canine Voda after a Mower Drive resident reported a car break-in on March 8.

Police said they found Ambrose outside Plum Convenience and made an arrest based on his possessions.

  • A cell phone was reported stolen by a patron of Cheers Bar in Oakmont on March 19.
  • Oakmont Transfer and Storage reported the theft of several scales which employees said occurred sometime in February.
  • A Plum resident on Balkan Drive reported illegal use of a credit card. Someone in Georgia used the person's card to buy a round-trip trip to Atlanta on March 18, police said.


Burglary

Plum police responded to a burglary on Chris Court in Plum after a resident reported returning home to a shattered laundry room window.

The resident had been out for several hours in the morning, police said, and reported several items were missing, including a handgun and jewelry.

The burglar likely left through a rear door on the main floor of the house. Police currently have no suspects.

  • An attempted burglary was reported at Twilight Automotive on Dark Hollow Road in Oakmont on March 19. Police said the owner reported a man trying to break in.


Drug Charges

  • Michael Wiley, 27, of 790 Center Road in Plum, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Jack MacDonald, 19, of 723 Center Road, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.


Criminal Mischief

  • An Oakmont resident in the 800 block of 15th street reported a damaged mailbox on March 19.
  • An Oakmont resident in the 500 block of Seventh Street reported his car was keyed on March 19.
  • A car parked at Adlai Stevenson Elementary School in Plum was reportedly keyed on March 17.

 

Information was obtained from Plum and Oakmont police reports and call logs. Charges listed are only accusations, and the accused have not been tried in court.
