Freezing Rain, Snow & Sun Expected in Plum-Oakmont this Weekend

Here's a look at what to expect weather-wise in the area.

The rest of the state is expected to be heavily impacted by winter storm Nemo, but it looks like the Pittsburgh region is getting by with a few inches of snow.

The National Weather Service is predicting rain and snow showers will sweep through the area, and temps will reach the 40s on Friday and Sunday.

A brief period of freezing rain Friday morning could cause some slick spots on roads. Take caution when traveling.

Here's a look at what you can expect in Plum, Oakmont and Verona:

  • Friday—Rain and snow showers before 3 p.m., then a chance of snow showers. High near 40. Southeast wind 8 to 13 miles per hour becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Friday Night—Snow showers likely, mainly before 8 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 16. Northwest wind 10 to 15 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
  • Saturday—A slight chance of snow showers before 10 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 31. Northwest wind 6 to 8 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Low around 15.
  • Sunday—Mostly sunny, with a high near 45.
