Recipe of the Week: Pumpkin-Shaped Cakes

A cute dessert for the month of October.

We're in October, so that means I start making Halloween-themed treats. I started last weekend with Pumpkin Cakes.

I bought a cute cake mold pan at Party City to make pumpkin cupcakes with. You can find them in any Halloween-themed section of a craft store.

The cakes are very easy to make, and they're cute treats to take to a get together or give to kids.

What you need:

1 box of white cake mix
1 1/3 cups of water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 egg whites
1 bottle of red food coloring
1 bottle of yellow food coloring
1 tube of black gel icing
1 tube of green gel icing

What you need to do:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease the cake mold pan with cooking spray or butter.

2. Blend the cake mix, water, oil and egg whites in a large bowl. Then, beat for two minutes.

3. Put yellow and red food coloring into the mix. A few drops of each should be enough. Stir it in.

4. Pour cake mix halfway into the molds and bake for 25 minutes. Cake is down when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

5. Cool cakes completely before attempting to take them out of the mold.

6. Take them out and decorate faces with the black and green gel icing.
