Reward Offered for Information About Sewer Dumping in Plum

The Plum Municipal Authority is seeking information and is willing to offer a $1,000 reward.

The Plum Borough Municipal Authority is seeking information about illegal dumping into the authority's sanitary sewer system.

According to a sign posted on the authority's building doors, located along New Texas Road, a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for the illegal dumping of chemicals or Marcellus shale brine.

According to the Plum Advance Leader, bacteria at the authority's sewage treatment plant on Route 286 was "compromised" twice in May by what is suspected to be Marcellus shale brine. It cost $5,000 to fix the problem.
