Seminar Offered on Fall Gardening

The Scott Conservancy will hold a presentation on how to protect your garden during winter.

Fall is a great time to be in the garden, and even with cooler weather on the way, there is still time to create new beds, divide perennials and tackle some projects.

The Scott Conservancy and Allegheny County Penn State Master Gardeners will present “Fall Cleanup: Savoring the Last of the Season” for those who want more information about what can be done during autumn.

The educational program is for anyone interested in gardening and scheduled for this Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Lodge in Scott Park in Scott Township. The cost is $5 and can be paid at the door.

The Scott Conservancy said those in attendance will learn tips and techniques on how to “put the garden to bed” before winter. The techniques will also help ensure a healthier garden next year.

“You invest time and money in your garden, so make sure that you treat it properly for its winter dormancy,” The Scott Conservancy said in a press release. “This is a great opportunity to learn to do what the experts do with their own gardens.”
