Snow Expected Thursday, Freezing Rain Friday

The National Weather Service said snow showers are expected around rush hour.

No need to scurry off to the grocery store to buy the obligatory milk, bread and toilet paper: National Weather Service Meteorologist Lee Hendricks said today’s snowfall shouldn’t be a big deal.

With light snow this morning and a chance of about an inch this afternoon, driver’s should nonetheless exercise caution on the roads during rush hour, which is when the flakes should really begin flying.

Also on tap today? Wind gusts of up to 35 mph, he said.

Snow is expected to turn to sleet come sunset Friday, and Hendricks said that will likely spur the National Weather Service to issue a warning.

“We will probably have a winter weather advisory,” he said, adding that meteorologists are working to determine the timing of the freezing rain.

While we will get a respite from uber cold temperatures Saturday, the precipitation will continue in the form of rain—with temperatures hovering in the mid-30s.
