Southbound Route 28 Will Be Closed Friday Night in Millvale

Here's a traffic update.

Southbound (inbound) Route 28 will be closed at the Millvale Interchange (Exit 3) on Friday night, Feb. 24, weather permitting.

The overnight closure will occur from 8 p.m. Friday through approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. Brief stoppages for equipment mobilization may also occur on northbound Route 28. Crews will be installing overhead sign structures at the former Millvale Industrial Park and at the Millvale interchange.

Southbound traffic will be required to exit at the Millvale off-ramp traveling under Route 28 to the on-ramp to the 40th Street Bridge. Traffic will cross the 40th Street Bridge to Butler Street to Penn Avenue to the 16th Street Bridge.

Traffic on the 40th Street Bridge will not be able to access southbound Route 28; access to northbound Route 28 and Millvale will remain open.

Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic patterns and allow extra time when traveling through the area.

Single lane traffic on southbound (inbound) Route 28 also will occur on Saturday, Feb. 25, weather permitting.

Crews from Equitable Gas will continue disconnecting lines at several locations between the 31st Street Bridge and the East Ohio Street exit. Restrictions will occur as necessary from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. One southbound lane will remain open. Contact Equitable Gas at 412-395-2314 for more information on the work.
