Storm Causes Damage Around the Area

Several trees are down, some residents remain without power.

Several trees and wires are down in the area after a severe thunderstorm Friday afternoon.

Oakmont Police were busy dealing with down trees on Wade Lane, Fourth Street, Washington Avenue and Maryland Avenue.

On Maryland, between Fourth and Fifth streets, a tree was hanging on a Duquesne Light wire. Emergency officials were waiting for Duquesne Light crews to shut off the power so the tree could be removed.

In the meantime, Plum police were monitoring traffic on Hulton Road near the Oakmont Country Club, where a tree fell and was blocking the road.

Fire officials also were on scene in Penn Hills on Milltown Road, where trees fell into wires on the hillside.

For several residents in the area who lost power immediately after the storm, it has returned. Patch hasn't been able to get an estimate of how many people remain without power and when it is expected to return yet.
