“I like to do the fun stuff,” she said with a laugh in regard to her upcoming bachelor auction for breast cancer.

Callahan 2012, and came up with the concept for her newest fundraising venture while palling around with friends.

“I said, ‘I think I’ll sell men,’” she explained.

And finding willing bachelors ended up being an easier task than she first imagined. Especially after her best friend’s son, Justin Fee, jumped in as the first guy up for grabs.

“I found it hard at first to ask, but then I had people volunteering,” Callahan said.

Ladies interested in a date (or putting their man of choice to work—yes, instead of a date you can order them to do manual labor, like wash your car) should head out to the auction, which will be held from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the VFW Post 191 on West Pike Street.

Ladies who choose to participate in the auction will be given numbered placards, and the bachelors will be presented to the audience alphabetically.

And while Callahan declined to specify, she wanted to warn would-be bidders that she already has her eye on one of the bachelors.

“If I don’t get him and I get another one, he’s washing my car,” she said with another chuckle.

But for a few of the guys, like Fee, the bidding war had already started.

As of the press time, Fee had already fetched a bid of $90—and the other three gentlemen had ladies interested, too.

Callahan said voting in that online auction will continue through Saturday.

But she stressed that you don’t have to bid on a bachelor to attend the event and have a fun time to support a good cause.

The auction will also feature food, a cash bar, a 50-50 raffle and a Chinese auction featuring gift certificates and baskets of goodies.

Admission is $5, and includes a raffle ticket. She added that people can pay with cash, check or even a credit card.

Callahan said she raised $1,036 during her bar crawl and hopes to generate even more donations during Saturday’s auction in preparation for next year’s walk.

And she said to stay tuned‑this won’t be her last effort.
