UPDATED: Water Main Break on Plum Street in Oakmont

Oakmont Water Authority crews are working to shut the water off.

 

Oakmont Water Authority crews are working on a water main break on Plum Street in Oakmont.

Tim Frank, assistant distribution superintendent for the water authority, said crews are working to shut the water down. Once the water is shut off, crews will work to repair the line.

Frank said he doesn't know what caused the main break, but he thinks it might have to do with thunderstorms that swept through the area Friday night.

"It probably has to do with the power outages we had the other night, but it's hard to tell," he said.

Frank said he doesn't know at this point how long it will take to repair the line.

"We won't know what we're up against until we dig," he said.

Several residents throughout Oakmont and Verona might have noticed their water pressure is low. Frank said once the water is shut off, the only properties affected would be the ones on Plum Street in between Allegheny River Boulevard and Sixth Street.

Others will notice an increase in their water pressure, he said.
