Westbound Freeport Road Closure at Route 28 Begins Monday in O'Hara

Here's a traffic update.

Westbound Freeport Road will be closed at the split to Route 28 in O’Hara Township beginning on Monday, Aug. 27, weather permitting.  

Crews will be concrete patching. The closure will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday and continue around-the-clock through Sept. 21. Access to southbound Route 28 will remain open.

Signs will be posted to guide motorists using the following detour:

  • Take Route 28 south to the Highland Park Bridge (Exit 6)
  • Take ramp to Aspinwall/Sharpsburg
  • Follow to Freeport Road
  • End detour

PennDOT’s Allegheny County maintenance unit will perform the work. 

Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic patterns and allow extra time when traveling through the area. Visit 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major roadways before traveling.
