Winter Storm Warning: Several Inches of Snow Predicted for Plum-Oakmont Area

The snow is expected to begin Sunday night.

Though it's officially spring, it seems as though the Plum-Oakmont area will experience some more winter weather.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire Pittsburgh region, including Plum, Oakmont and Verona. The warning is in effect from 11 p.m. Sunday through 11 a.m. Monday.

Snow is expected to be most intense from midnight Sunday through the pre-dawn hours of Monday, accumulating 4 to 7 inches before ending by Monday afternoon.

Heavy snow could make traveling hazardous.

  • Sunday—Increasing clouds, with a high near 38. Northeast wind around 9 miles per hour.
  • Sunday Night—Snow, mainly after 11 p.m. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 30. East wind 8 to 13 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
  • Monday—Snow showers. High near 36. East wind 5 to 8 miles per hour becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.
  • Monday Night —Snow showers likely, mainly before 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 27. Northwest wind 5 to 8 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
