Pancakes for Soldiers

While you are enjoying the Oakmont Chamber of Commerce Annual Street Sale, be sure to stop by the Oakmont Historical Society booth to donate to the troops.

The Oakmont Historical Society, along with Military Connections, supports the troops with "Pancakes for Soldiers." Chaplain Rod Gilliam is stationed at FOB Farah in Afghanistan and travels to the dangerous and desolate outposts to visit soldiers.  The Chaplain always carries his George Foreman grill so he can make pancakes for the soldiers during his visits. These pancakes are the only warm meal that the soldiers receive and are a huge morale booster. The Chaplain is in need of supplies in order to continue serving over 700 troops a week.
