Weekend Schedule: 13th Annual Riverview Relay for Life
The fundraising event for the American Cancer Society will be held at Riverside Park in Oakmont Saturday and Sunday.
The 13th-annual Riverview Relay for Life will be held at Riverside Park Saturday and Sunday.Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s primary fundraising program with proceeds supporting cancer research, education and patient services. It is a community-based fun-filled event, designed to celebrate survivorship and remember lost loved ones.
Riverview Relay for Life is a 24-hour fundraising event at Riverside Park in Oakmont that includes team activities, live music, food concessions, raffles and games while team members take turns walking or running around the track. It begins Saturday morning and ends on Sunday morning. At the Relay, the teams camp out at the park and have a representative on the track at all times because "cancer never sleeps," according to the cancer society.
There will be tons of events for those who attend. Here's a look:

- 7 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday—Coffee donated by Harmarville McDonalds at Registration Tent
7 a.m. Saturday—Bagels donated by Oakmont Bakery for team members
9:30 a.m.—Opening Ceremony including Survivor speaker, dove release and bagpiper
10 a.m. to 6 p.m.— Luminary Sales at registration tent

3:15—Western PA Youth Ballet performing “Childhood Rhymes”
6 to 7—Riverview High School Jazz Band
7 to 7:30—Ms. Relay Contest
7:30 to 8:30—Survivor Dessert Social Singing by Chelle Rae
8 to 9—Luminary Set Up
9 to 10—Luminary Ceremony including speaker, singing, reading of names and slideshow
10 to 11—Dance Party
Groups also will have their own activities, food and games for the public.
