Weigh In Wednesday: Fast Food Alternatives

Fast, fast, fast. What do we eat with a schedule that has us running from place to place. Must we eat fast food? Any other options?

There's been some creepy news as of late surrounding KFC.  I honestly do NOT think that this is what the Colonel had in mind when he created the chain years ago.

My family? We've not eaten at a fast food restaurant since I watched Food Inc. back in 2010. Sure there was a rogue drive-through order of french fries that my husband picked up for my son one night. And a coffee at McDonald's where he was meeting a parishioner. But MEALS?

No dice. Sorry. Call me snobby, uppity, paranoid. I just can't do it.

My family had to come up with alternatives, for those times when we WOULD like to go out for a quick meal, because surely everyone needs to do so once in a while. Here are a few examples:

  • sushi (I know, I know, you are laughing a bit, but my kids really do like sushi.)
  • Cheeburger, Cheeburger
  • make your own pizza nights (we pick up the ingredients and then bake at home)
  • grocery store food courts (like Market District)
  • taco Tuesday at Biba

Have you given fast food the heave ho?

What do you do instead for a quick meal out????

Erin and Joline, both health and wellness junkies, spent many years pinning down the truths about eating healthy and inexpensively. Both feel the it’s-too-expensive-to-eat-healthy excuse is untrue and infuriating.
