Christmas Wishes...

My 13 year old daughter, autistic and a fervent believer in santa, wrote her letter...

Look at the pictures. Can you read the letter to Santa?

Mia, my 13 year old daughter wrote it.

Most kids by her age have long stopped believing in such things.

Mia, however, is passionate about her belief. She can argue for hours about the existance of Santa. She feels her evidence of his existance is quite solid, too. Mostly, this is due to her autism. She is quite immature, emotionally. She loves to talk about TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and also believes if she went to New York City she could find them. She loves My Little Pony. She knows an insane amount about Pokemon.

I hope you can read this letter. It is so sweet. Before asking for anything for herself, she asks for gifts for her sisters, myself and her step-father. She also suggests that perhaps Santa should get a pet.

Oh, and in case you are wondering, yes she really does write that poorly. Her motor skills are poor and she has always struggled to write. This is actually a vast improvement as she can stay on the lines and can use the paper kids her own age use. There was a time her handwriting was HUGE.

I am often saying that my daughters bring me joy. I hope you enjoy this glimpse of why. And please be sure to enjoy the children around you during this magical season. <3
