A Little About Verona... by: knf35

A little about Verona in words and pictures.

Since I will be writing primarily about Verona, I would like to introduce you to our borough. Verona is a wonderful little borough along the banks of the Allegheny River that was incorporated in 1871 and is still going strong.

It offers businesses plus space for more businesses, there are families who have lived here since the beginning of incorporation and there are new families who are just starting out, there are two playgrounds, an elementary school, which is part of Riverview School District, a premier child care center, there are great pizza shops, a catering company, jewelers, hair stylists, restaurants, insurance agents, flower shop, a renowned bike store, car parts and car repair and maintenance establishments, plus there is a mini mall with a grocery store, wine and spirits, a  beer distributer, and a little known treasure store. I hope you realize that the above is just a beginning.

Our fine is located on East Railroad Avenue and dependable Verona Volunteer Fire Department is on Parker Street (they welcome new volunteers).

And organizations galore: churches of all denomination, and premier early child center, nursery school, VIP (Verona in Progress), Verona Flower and Garden Club (who take care of the blooming ambiance of the borough), Verona Historical Society, Neighborhood Watch group, Boy and Girl Scouts, a group that conducts clean-up days twice or more times a year, a bocce group. Plus there is Verona Buiness District Advisory Committee that is working on improving the business district.  All these groups welcome your participation whether it be once in a while or whether you make it your project.

We also have concerts and movies by the gazebo, plus other activities on our community park with the gazebo, which is by police station, and there is a live theater group in the upstairs along the boulevard, and one great annual around Labor Day.

I haven't listed names of shops and stores because I am hopeful that you will come and walk along the boulevard and East Railroad Avenue to discover it all for yourself, then drive around the streets, and see the various types of houses and homes and well kept yards. In fact a good time to visit is June 16 between 10 am and 1 pm when the Garden Club holds its annual Open Gardens Tour of Verona.

There is so much more and I know I have missed telling so much. If you think of anything you would like to share about Verona, please add it as a response.
