Christ Child Society of Pittsburgh Hosts Red Wagon Fare Fundraiser

State Trooper Robin Mungo will be guest speaker at Red Wagon Fare, an annual fund raiser which supports babies with layettes and youngsters with coats.

As it celebrates its 18th year of operation, the Christ Child Society of Pittsburgh will again hold its annual fundraiser, the Red Wagon Fare, at the Pittsburgh Field Club in Fox Chapel on Saturday, October 13, 2012, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The day includes luncheon, a grand prize raffle, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, basket of cheer, purse raffle, gift baskets and gourmet delights. This year's event will also include a fashion show by Coldwater Creek. The price of tickets is $35. Our Master of Ceremonies this year is State Trooper Robin Mungo. Trooper Mungo is often seen on the local news and will be familiar to many of our attendees.

The Christ Child Society of Pittsburgh is one of 40 chapters nationwide which are part of the National Christ Child Society founded in Washington, D.C. in 1887 by Mary Virginia Merrick and which continue to carry on her mission of service on behalf of the welfare of children.

Among the many good works of the Society are packaging and providing layettes for babies at various hospitals and social service agencies and conducting its annual Angel's Closet through which it distributes winter coats to needy children in the community.

We encourage your support of this event so that the Christ Child Society of Pittsburgh can continue to carry on the mission of Mary Virginia Merrick who believed that “nothing is ever too much to do for a child”.
